circa 1865 (date obscured), with round 30 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, 'II**' stamped to receiver ring, flip-open breech-block, later applied serial number to top-tang, bar-action lock with make and date (rubbed, date partially illegible) and 'V.R.' crown device to tail, walnut three-quarter stock (refinished), iron furniture, bayonet bar to muzzle and provision for clearing rod (absent), exposed iron surfaces stained and frosted
